Spoke Health is a new, independent nurse practitioner-led primary care clinic set to open in downtown Victoria. Situated in an established, accessible medical building with parking and transit nearby we are built around the goal of providing care to patients in a way that works best for them and for the healthcare provider.
Providing primary health care is going to be a big job wherever you work, but we feel that by removing the administrative weight that slows providers down and providing the clinic attributes that provide the greatest benefit is more helpful than spending on a big complement of medical office assistants. Spoke pairs a small, nimble team with a technology-first model — online booking, an AI scheduling and patient-communication agent, an AI-enhanced EMR, a live administrative assistant and LPN support for charting updating, triage, follow-up, and forms and whatever else makes your day smoother.
Role Description
Each nurse practitioner works from their own dedicated exam room with full scheduling flexibility and genuine practice autonomy — you build and manage your own patient panel, set your own approach, and have direct input into how the clinic grows. As an independent contractor under a Primary Care Network contract with the BC Ministry of Health, you keep your professional fee and retain control of a meaningful portion of your overhead envelope to direct toward your own priorities. This role suits an NP who wants the independence of running their own practice without feeling like you are doing it alone.
Key responsibilities
- Provide longitudinal primary care to an attached patient panel — diagnosis, treatment, chronic disease management, and preventive care across the lifespan
- Build and maintain your own patient panel, meeting PCN attachment and access expectations
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and make referrals to specialists and community services
- Manage chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, COPD, mental health) with structured follow-up
- Provide episodic and urgent care for panel patients within scope
- Coordinate care with the broader team — LPN, admin support, specialists, allied health, and community resources
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in the EMR
- Meet PCN contract service requirements (minimum annual clinical hours and per-period limits set by the Ministry)
- Participate in panel management, recall, and screening/preventive care initiatives
- Practise within BCCNM standards, scope, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
- Commitment to longitudinal primary care and patient attachment to your panel
- Comfort working independently within a small, technology-enabled team – new grads supported
Compensation & benefits
**PCN NP Service Contract — Compensation & Overhead**
- Independent contractor under the standardized provincial PCN NP Service Contract (BC Ministry of Health)
- Remuneration (Ministry-set): $171,533 (Year 1) → $177,251 (Year 2) → $182,968 (Year 3)
- $6,500/year Patient Attachment System incentive
- $75,000/year overhead allowance to cover operational/business costs
