Our advocacy covers a wide range of issues affecting B.C.’s four nursing designations. We draw on input from members and the broader profession to identify where nursing perspectives can help shape policy, regulation and health system decisions. This work often connects directly with the practice support NNPBC provides, helping turn the changes we advocate for into clear, practical information for nurses and NPs.
Fair compensation and supports for nurse practitioners
Following a province-wide vote, NNPBC is pursuing a first-of-its kind compensation framework for BC’s nurse practitioners. We are focusing on building the workplace structures, supports and professional representation NPs need to grow in their roles and give the best care to their patients.

Integrating nursing into primary care
Nurses and nurse practitioners play a key and growing role in primary care delivery. Building on successful advocacy work, NNPBC collaborates with government to deliver the structural support nursing professionals need to practice to their full potential alongside team members. Our goal is to secure policies that remove barriers to primary care nursing and increase access across the province.

Advancing nursing scope of practice
NNPBC supports nurses across all designations to practice to the highest extent of their scope and regulated education. We work to remove barriers and strengthen the policies and tools that enable nurses to use their full skills in patient care. This includes developing clinical policy tools that have expanded how certified registered nurses can diagnose, treat and manage within their authority.
