Student membership FAQs
Have questions about joining, renewing, or making the most of your student membership? Find answers to some of the most common questions below.
Membership is free for entry-to-practice nursing students who are currently enrolled in a nursing school program. For all other nursing students, the annual membership fee is $64 (GST inclusive). Click here to learn more about membership fees.
Entry-to-practice nursing students are enrolled in a nursing education program that prepares them for their initial nursing registration (licensure), such as becoming a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), depending on the jurisdiction.
Other nursing students are enrolled in programs beyond their initial nursing education, such as post-licensure, post-graduate, specialty certificate, bridging or continuing education programs. These students have typically already entered the nursing profession or are pursuing additional qualifications.
Yes. Student membership is available to students enrolled in a nursing education program. If you are studying in another health care discipline, you are not eligible for student membership.
No. While most of our student members are enrolled in nursing programs in British Columbia, we welcome nursing students from across Canada and internationally who are interested in joining our community.
You will be asked to provide your school or institution, your nursing program and a valid student ID as part of the membership application process.
Membership is valid for one year, from April 1 to March 31, and renews annually unless cancelled.
Yes. As long as you remain enrolled in an eligible nursing education program, you can renew your student membership each year.
You can apply as soon as you are enrolled in a nursing education program. Your membership will begin once your application has been processed.
Once you graduate, you’ll no longer be eligible for student membership. You can transition to the membership category that best reflects your professional status.
