Nursing Education Leadership Table
The NNPBC Nursing Education Leadership Table (NELT) brings together nursing education leaders from across British Columbia to discuss shared issues, opportunities and priorities for nursing education and the profession. It includes education across all four nursing designations and across the full learning continuum, from entry-to-practice programs to graduate education and continuing professional development.
Purpose
Nursing education is delivered across many institutions, programs and regions, which can make it difficult to address shared challenges in a coordinated way. The NELT provides a provincial forum where nursing educators can connect across those boundaries and bring a broader nursing perspective to issues affecting education and practice.
The table has both an advisory and advocacy role. Its work includes identifying emerging issues, discussing priorities across nursing education, informing NNPBC’s education and policy work, and creating a way for nursing education leaders to engage with government, regulators and other system partners.
NNPBC’s role
NNPBC convenes and supports the table as part of its role as the professional association for all four nursing designations in BC. An NNPBC staff member co-chairs the table alongside a nurse educator elected by members. NNPBC provides the infrastructure and coordination for meetings, connects the table with other partners, brings emerging issues forward for discussion and acts on recommendations that come back to the association.
