Since its establishment in 2018, NNPBC has continued to evolve as an organization to meet the needs of all nursing professionals in BC. Over the past two years, NNPBC has increased its programs and services as well as our policy and advocacy profiles at all levels of health service delivery.
As a natural expansion of our role, NNPBC has entered into an agreement with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM or the College) and the Canadian Nurses Protective Society (CNPS) to become the CNPS member organization for British Columbia. NNPBC remains a voluntary professional association. RNs, RPNs, NPs and employed students have the option to select the preferential group rate as part of a bundle that includes their required CNPS fee along with NNPBC membership.
The requirement for RNs, RPNs, NPs and employed students to pay for CNPS Professional Liability Protection (PLP) during their initial registration or registration renewal remains unchanged. However, starting with renewal in 2021, practising RNs, RPNs and NPs will have the option to fulfill their PLP requirement through a CNPS and NNPBC bundled rate of $109.20 (including GST) for RNs/RPNs and $236.04 (including GST) for NPs. Those who choose not to purchase NNPBC and CNPS bundled rate will be able to obtain their PLP at the CNPS individual rate of $164.85 (including GST) for RNs/RPNs and $375.38 (including GST) for NPs. This will be completed during the 2021 renewal via the BCCNM website.
Although this transition does not impact LPNs and non-practicing nurses, LPNs and non-practising nurses will still be provided with the opportunity to choose to purchase NNPBC membership during their BCCNM renewal.
As the BCCNM registration year for 2021-2022 will encompass 13 months, in order to align our membership year and provide an added benefit to our members, NNPBC will be offering its membership for this 13-month period at a cost of 12 months.
