LPN Advocacy Toolkit
March 2024
Licensed practical nurses are a significant part of nursing care in British Columbia, working across community, acute, long-term, residential and other care settings. Their education, scope of practice and day-to-day experience give LPNs an important perspective on how care is delivered and where change is needed.
The NNPBC Licensed Practical Nurse Advocacy Toolkit is designed to help BC LPNs communicate that perspective more effectively. It provides practical guidance for increasing awareness of the LPN role and engaging with the people who influence public understanding, policy and health-care decisions.
The toolkit includes step-by-step guidance and tips for speaking with media, using social media for advocacy, and writing to elected and government representatives.
NNPBC is the professional association representing all four nursing designations in BC. Through our advocacy work, we support nurses to contribute their knowledge and experience to conversations and decisions about nursing and the future of health care in BC.
