RN Advocacy Toolkit
March 2024
Registered nurses work across nearly every part of British Columbia’s health system, from hospitals and primary care to community, public health, long-term care, education and other settings. Their education, scope of practice and experience give RNs a broad perspective on patient care, health system challenges and opportunities for improvement.
The NNPBC Registered Nurse Advocacy Toolkit is designed to help BC RNs communicate that perspective more effectively. It provides practical guidance for increasing awareness of the RN role and engaging with the people who influence public understanding, policy and health-care decisions.
The toolkit includes step-by-step guidance and tips for speaking with media, using social media for advocacy, and writing to elected and government representatives.
NNPBC is the professional association representing all four nursing designations in BC. Through our advocacy work, we support nurses to contribute their knowledge and experience to conversations and decisions about nursing and the future of health care in BC.
